Example Workflows
Please note that, since the example workflows were put together on Ben
Waldie's computer, certain action settings involving file and/or folder
paths may need to be reconfigured to function on your specific machine.

Between the time that this book was written and when Automator was
released, Apple changed the name of the "Add Date and Time to Finder
Item Names" action to "Rename Finder Items". Therefore, any references
in the book refer to this action as "Add Date and Time to Finder
Items".
The image below is an updated screen shot of the "Rename Finder Items"
action in Automator.

The "Email Photo Contact Sheet" example workflow in this chapter was
developed prior to the final release of Automator. In constructing
this workflow, the "New Mail Message" action did not automatically
insert attachments into the newly created email message. However, with
the final release of Automator, this action was updated to
automatically insert a passed file as an attachment. Because of this,
several steps included in the example workflow are no longer necessary.
These steps include locating the file to attach to the message, and
adding the attachment using the "Add Attachments to Front Message"
action. Because of this, these steps may be left out of the workflow,
if desired. Alternatively, you may choose to select "Ignore Results
from Previous Action" from the input popup menu at the top of the "New
Mail Message" action, by clicking on the "Image Files" input text.
This will cause the action to ignore the file path from the previous
action, and all steps included in the example workflow will function as
explained.

The last paragraph on this page begins with "Optionally,
you may send an ignoresInput message to the previous action in the workflow,
which is passed as the anAction parameter...". This should read
"Optionally, you may send an ignoresInput message to the instance of
your action, which is passed as the anAction parameter."

Since the "Add Date and Time to Finder Item Names" action has been
renamed to "Rename Finder Items", this action is incorrectly listed in
the index.
